Accommodation

I prefer not to give suggestions about hotels and always invite to have a look at a travel web site, such as Trivago, Expedia, etc., to have an idea of the accommodation you may like in Rome.
Of course if you are undecided among a list of different hotels i will be happy to give you my advice.

Eating

When in Rome be sure you taste matriciana or carbonara or cacio e pepe pasta. Then pizza, ice cream, espresso, cappuccino…

Touring

Your trip to Rome won’t be complete without a visit to:
the gigantic Colosseum, the intriguing ruins of the Roman Forum, the magical architecture of the Pantheon, the Vatican, where you can find evidence of the genius of extraordinary minds, the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona, masterpieces of the baroque fantasy.

Having more time you may want to enjoy the almost human sculptures of the Borghese Gallery, the mysterious and thrilling Catacombs, the ancient town of Ostia Antica, the renaissance gardens of Villa D’Este in Tivoli, the Baroque Palace of the Chigi Family in Ariccia.

On Monday many museums and art galleries are closed.

The Jewish Museum is closed on Friday afternoon and Saturday
The Vatican Museums are closed on Sunday

According to the dress code of the access to the Vatican and to the other churches shoulders and knees must be covered.

Transportation

In Rome buses, trams and subway are part of an integrated system: the ticket covers all forms of transport, costs € 1,50 and lasts 100 minutes.

If you think to use very often the public transport in Rome, you may consider to buy the Rome Pass Card, that enables you to benefit from discounts on some museums as well. The link is: www.romapass.it/

Shopping

But few exceptions , shops are closed on Sunday and Monday morning.
Normally they open around 9:30a.m. and close no later than 20:00.

The most famous and busy shopping area is in downtown, around the Spanish Steps, People’s square, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona.
